Some traders say that the United Kingdom economy is finished and that investors should get out of Britain. This is a strong statement but our country is facing tough economic challenges and the UK currency has fallen to its weakest point against the dollar since 1985 and a record low against the yen. I wonder what affect the falling pound has on our finances and what does it mean for savers and investors and those with property abroad? Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley have collapsed, the Cheshire and Derbyshire Building Societies have been rescued, and Halifax Bank of Scotland needed a bail-out from Lloyds TSB. Friends of mine are relieved to have just received their savings (paid by the government) from the collapsed internet bank Icesave. Does anyone know the safest place for me to put my money?
