Bankers bonuses, well what can I say. OK Cameron has said that the bonus RBS’s Stephen Hester was given was half what it was last year. WOW! I suppose a million pounds is nothing to Cameron, and most bankers. It really is about time that we banned bonuses altogether and had a pay limit of £100,000 a year. That’s still ten times what I’m earning!!!!!! Maybe we do need a revolution in this greedy screwed up country. What an amazing spectacle the royal wedding was, we really do know how to do pageantry. People from all over the world could see our heritage and our ceremony and it has made me proud to be British. What a shame that it was marred by one petty thing, that of the snub of our two latest Prime Ministers, what sort of message does that send to the world as a whole. There were three reasons given for Tony Blaire’s non-invite. The first that he had written about William unfavourably in his book, which I have read and he only just slightly mentions anger over his mothers death, I think that I would feel the same in those circumstances. The other was over the Iraq war, and the Blair government were voted in for a third term after all of that, so they definitely had the mandate for that from the majority of the country. As for the third claim, about only those that hold the Royal Garter, that was just utter crap. Probably the real reason was that Blair personally told the royals that they were unpopular over Diana’s death and that they had to acknowledge her by at least cutting short their holiday in Scotland. As far as I am concerned Tony Blair will go down in history as one of our greatest Prime Ministers, so I feel that the non-invite to the wedding was extremely shortsighted and actually made our country look rather stupid. One again David Cameron re-launches his idea of the Big Society but he didn’t call it a re-launch, he was probably annoyed that people didn’t get it the first time. I have a suggestion for him why not relaunch it a third time with a new title “Big Sobriety”, and new content and then people might just listen. With over a million hospital admissions every year that are attibuted to excessive drinking, and the total cost to the NHS expected to rise to £3.7 billion. Hospital admissions for alcohol misuse stood at half a million in 2002 and have doubled, now costing the NHS £2.7 billion every year. If Cameron really wants to save money somewhere . . . The bosses of 5 of the biggest 6 energy companies have told the governments Energy Committee that energy bills are likely to rise in years to come. The “inevitable direction of wholesale prices” mean that domestic bills are going to get more expensive over the next ten years. Details from watchdog Consumer Focus show that people with the same supplier but living in different parts of the UK have bills that vary by up to £59 per annum. The head of energy at Consumer Focus has said: “With 4 of the big 6 suppliers having now announced price rises averaging 6 per cent, the focus on [regulator] Ofgem’s review of whether energy prices are justified will be even sharper.” Ofgem recently announced that it would conduct a review into the domestic energy market after figures showed a sharp rise in suppliers’ profit margins. It seems now that they make about £90 per typical customer. About time Ofgem, so it is now even more important to Switch and Save. Harriet Harman, Labour deputy leader finally apologised after she branded Danny Alexander, Treasury Minister, a ‘ginger rodent’. Apparently she was forced to apologise after a direct order from Labour party leader Ed Miliband and she withdraw the rodent slur. But what about withdrawing the ginger slur, because that to me is worse, it is actually racist. If she had called Obama for example a “black rodent” or even worse, “ni***r rodent” where would that have led her. I suppose I have a vested interest in all this because I have red hair and at school I was teased and set upon for my “colouring” probably more than some of the black kids. It has been much the same all my life and out of all the names I have been called “ginger” has been the worst. We are the butt of all jokes and if there is a serial killer or any evil psycho in films or tv, they are usually portrayed as having red hair and freckles. “Rhodent” to me is ok “Ginger” is slang racist, so I think Harriet Harman had better watch her back saying this in Scotland where there are a lot of us “redheads”.
