Is the flotation on the stockmarket of Betfair more to do with trouble ahead for the betting industry after bet fixing in sport. Is it a case of do this quick before the shit hits the fan??? Posted in Finance | 2 Comments » Super Winners26/07/2010 by Dandy.
I found out some amazing figures, 27% of entrants to primary schools are now overweight or obese in the UK! WOW! What is happening? But trust Marks & Spencer to cash in on this fact by selling over-sized school uniforms. The range, which is currently sold online, caters for ages 3 to 16 year olds, with trouser and skirt sizes going up to a 41-inch. But the government have consistently refused to regulate the food industry. If Marks and Spencer sell more food to families then they can later sell bigger clothes . . . supermarkets seem to win - all ways. Nationwide Building Society said that house prices rose by 0.1% in June, but now the Halifax says that UK house prices have fallen slightly in the early summer compared with the start of the year . . . what does this all mean??? Are the reasons why the English football team underperformed is that they all drank Lucazade and ate too many Pringles? They are overpaid and over pampered and couldn’t wait to get back home to their luxury goods? I am also convinced that the people to blame for this are the football commentators and pundits who convinced us that England were potential winners of the world cup. One famous French footballer said that the English Premiership was not all that great and all a commentator could say very defensively to that was “Well it looks good!” . . . in future if anyone under performs then I have a new saying for them: ”Sorry I really Roonied that”! Some traders say that the United Kingdom economy is finished and that investors should get out of Britain. This is a strong statement but our country is facing tough economic challenges and the UK currency has fallen to its weakest point against the dollar since 1985 and a record low against the yen. I wonder what affect the falling pound has on our finances and what does it mean for savers and investors and those with property abroad?
